Train the Trainer

Develop a range of participative techniques and increase confidence

Train the Trainer is designed to enable delegates to develop a range of participative techniques, increasing confidence by equipping them with the skills to deliver training sessions.

Course outline: Day one

  • Understanding the difference between training and mentoring/coaching
  • Adult learning – using the Kolb cycle of experiential learning
  • Learning styles – using Honey & Mumford
  • Differentiation – ensuring an inclusive session
  • How to plan a session – lesson planning
  • Presence – voice, body language, choice of language
  • Resources, audio, visual kinesthetic
  • On-going assessment – checking understanding
  • Training cycle and reflective evaluation

This course will include a high level of delegate participation and an opportunity to practice the skills being taught. Homework is set – prepare a 15 minute training session.


Course outline: Day two

  • Delegates present their 15 minute sessions to the rest of the group
  • Feedback is gathered from the other delegates
  • Presenter completes a personal evaluation
  • Individual feedback and actions arising with the course tutor
