Phil Caborn – Celebrating 3 Months With SVC Group

SVC Group’s Business Development Director, Phil Caborn has been with the team at SVC HQ for 3 months already – can you believe it? We asked Phil about his SVC Journey so far:

Walk me through a typical day at SVC Group as a Business Development Director?

I am currently working on key projects to increase awareness of the SVC Business Compass and the four key services that we offer. These include training, HR, H&S and recruitment.

Growing and developing the SVC sales and support teams is also part of my day which is spent working with and mentoring individual team members to help them grow their individual client base and revenues.

I am also helping to Push the SVC brand and its values into new areas across East Anglia and into North London whilst enhancing current client relationships and networking with other key business owners and leaders.

What was it that made you decide to join the team at SVC HQ?

It was a great opportunity that came up at the right time. SVC is an expanding business that has a great name across North Essex and Suffolk and having recently moved into new premises on Stanway Colchester I felt I could help to grow the business further.

The enthusiasm and drive of the team along with the forward thinking of the owner Amanda Simpson and management team also helped to make the move an easy one. I have a chance to make a difference, grow my knowledge and experience in a different market place and also improve individual skills that will help me grow personally.

What jobs and experiences have led you to your current position?

My experience within the Estate agency world and more recently in radio have helped me grow my understanding of people and relationships which is a big feature of how we work here at SVC. For years now I have managed and developed individuals helping them grow and establish themselves in the East Anglian marketplace and this is something I can develop in my new role.

Here at SVC we have the four key elements to our business compass and my understanding of driving team and revenue performances will really help us broaden our horizons and get this fantastic brand recognised over a wider area.

Through my many networking connections I am sure we will be able to share our success with many other businesses that are finding HR, Health & Safety and recruitment time consuming and this is where we are able to help in looking after these areas to allow business leaders to work on their profit margins.

How would you describe the working atmosphere and the people you work with at SVC Group?

The talented team at SVC Group want to help. They are customer focused, love to build long lasting relationships and absolutely put the customer first. They are an experienced bunch who love nothing better than coming up with solutions to help and are not afraid to do things differently and try new methods.

The atmosphere in the office is always welcoming, happy and dare I say at times a little crazy! As a team we definitely have fun and that really helps to ensure we get the work done in the right manner.

What is coming up over the next 3 months at SVC Group – what can we look forward to?

There is lots going on. Our annual ILM award ceremony happens in September which is a great chance to celebrate with all of those individuals who have completed their course work.

We have another HR Debate coming up and a special training event with Professional Speaker Celynn Erasmus on Thursday 13th October.  We also have the official launch of SVC Executive and much more. Watch this space!

What do you get up to in your free time?

I have been a Trustee for the  Essex and Herts Air Ambulance Trust for a number of years which I enjoy and allows me to give something back to a cause that is just amazing.

I love to socialise with family and friends and after many BBQ’s due to the great weather we have been having I am also finding going back to the gym and working out enjoyable.
